Accessibility statement
Activated Digital is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology. This statement explains what we have done, what we know is still imperfect, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.
The standard we build to
Israeli law requires websites to meet Israeli Standard IS 5568, under Regulation 35 of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013.
We build to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, which is a stricter superset of that requirement. We do this deliberately rather than aiming at the legal minimum.
We have not commissioned an external conformance audit, so we do not claim a certified conformance level. What follows is an honest account of the work, not a certification.
What we have done
Accessibility was built into this site as it was written, not added afterwards. Specifically:
- Semantic HTML throughout, with a single main heading per page, a correct heading outline, and real landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer
- Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator that is never removed
- The mobile menu is a proper dialog: focus moves into it, is trapped inside it, Escape closes it, focus returns to the button that opened it, and the rest of the page is made inert while it is open
- A skip link as the first thing you reach by keyboard
- Text contrast meets or exceeds 4.5:1, and interface boundaries meet 3:1, measured against the actual background each element sits on rather than against the page colour in the abstract
- No information is conveyed by colour alone
- Every meaningful image has alternative text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology
- The page is usable at 400% zoom and at 320 pixels wide, without horizontal scrolling
- Correct language and text direction on every page, with Hebrew served right-to-left, and Latin text inside Hebrew marked so that screen readers pronounce it correctly and phone numbers are not reordered
- All animation respects the operating system “reduce motion” setting, and stops entirely when it is on
- The site works with JavaScript disabled: content is visible by default rather than revealed by script
Known limitations
We would rather tell you what is imperfect than imply the site is flawless.
Stopping animation with a mouse
The homepage has continuous background motion: a scrolling strip of client logos, a drifting grid and a scanning line. WCAG success criterion 2.2.2 requires a way to stop motion that lasts more than five seconds.
There is a control to stop all motion, and it works, but it is reachable by keyboard rather than visible on screen. Press Tab from the top of the page and it is the second thing you reach. All motion also stops automatically if your device is set to reduce motion, which we recommend and which covers most people who need it.
A visitor using a mouse who has not set that preference cannot currently reach the control. We consider this a genuine shortcoming rather than an acceptable trade-off, and we intend to make the control visible.
Third-party content
This site includes an accessibility toolbar as an additional convenience. It is a supplement to the accessibility of the site itself, never a substitute for it: the site is built to be accessible without it.
